In the previous article, we mentioned that SOLD SECURE has four security grades, and the testing methods vary depending on the certification. Our company's lock cylinders have achieved the highest levels of Diamond and Gold certifications in SOLD SECURE.

As shown in the diagram below, the testing process for our lock cylinders involves multiple certifications. This means that our lock cylinders undergo a rigorous evaluation process to ensure their security and performance.
The first one is EN1303.
EN1303 is a European standard test developed and managed by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). This standard applies to mechanical lock cylinders in the European market and aims to ensure that these cylinders meet specific performance and security requirements. EN1303 covers various types of lock cylinders, including the design, functionality, and durability of keys and mechanical components. Through the testing and certification according to EN1303, manufacturers of lock cylinders can ensure that their products comply with the standards of the European market, providing a higher level of security and quality assurance. Such standard testing is crucial in ensuring the safety and confidence of consumers and users when using mechanical lock cylinders.
➜ Key operation test: Evaluates the smoothness and correctness of key insertion and rotation in the lock cylinder.
➜ Key durability test: Tests the durability of the key under continuous use and mechanical stress to ensure long-term reliability.
➜ Disassembly resistance test: Tests whether the structure and components of the lock cylinder can resist attempts of disassembly and dismantling.
➜ Corrosion resistance test: Tests the lock cylinder's resistance to corrosion under different environmental conditions to ensure long-term durability.
➜ Impact resistance test: Tests whether the lock cylinder can withstand external impacts and shocks to ensure its impact resistance performance.
➜ Pliers resistance test: Tests whether the lock cylinder can resist cutting and attacks pliers to ensure its shear resistance ability.
➜ Prying resistance test: Tests whether the lock cylinder can resist prying and manipulation attempts to ensure its resistance to prying.
➜ Low-temperature impact test: Tests the performance of the lock cylinder when subjected to impacts and shocks at freezing temperatures, ensuring its reliability in low-temperature environments.
These tests ensure that the functionality and performance of the lock cylinder meet the requirements of the EN1303 standard and provide a certain level of security assurance. The specific methods and requirements for these testing items can be found in the EN1303 standard document.

After passing the EN1303 test, it is necessary to undergo the BSI's TS007 Clause 4.2, which focuses on non-destructive attacks on the lock cylinder itself, such as tapping, picking, drilling, etc. The BSI certification will be further introduced in subsequent articles.
而在通過EN1303測試後，會需要通過BSI的TS007 Clause 4.2，此測試內容更針對鎖心本體的非強烈破壞性攻擊(敲、挑、鑽…等)，而BSI的認證會在之後的文章介紹到。
Upon successfully completing the TS007 Clause 4.2 test, one can apply for the SOLD SECURE Gold certification. The SOLD SECURE Gold test is very similar to EN1303, as it involves basic attack tests on the lock cylinder.
在通過TS007 Clause 4.2的測試後，即可申請SOLD SECURE的金牌測試。而SOLD SECURE的金牌測試幾乎跟EN1303相同，都是針對鎖心基本的攻擊測試。
Once you have obtained the Gold certification, the testing process concludes. However, if you wish to achieve the additional security level introduced by the SOLD SECURE Diamond certification, it is necessary to determine if your lock cylinder has a designed locking mechanism.
The Diamond certification involves a so-called snap (or break) test. If your lock cylinder does not have a designed locking mechanism, it will not be able to pass the Diamond certification test.
What is a snap(break) test?
The snap test, also known as the break test, is conducted by installing the lock core into the door case and locking it (with the bolt extended). Within a specified time limit, a pair of pliers or other permitted tools are used to break or twist one side of the lock core (or the designated EXT side), exposing the central linkage structure and allowing attacks from any point using the authorized tools. If the door case can be driven to unlock (with the bolt retracted) within the specified time, the test is considered a failure; otherwise, it is deemed a successful test.
Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that your lock core has a designed locking mechanism before conducting the test. The locking mechanism, in simple terms, is a defensive measure that prevents subsequent attacks by blocking them from the cam surface when the key end is broken or compromised. However, the locking mechanism should not be too easily bypassed, as it would not meet the requirements for the Sold Secure Diamond certification.
The common test items for the Sold Secure Diamond certification include:
➜ Destruction Test: Testers use various tools and methods to intentionally damage the product, such as prying, drilling, sawing, and impact, to assess its durability and resistance.
➜ Force Test: Testers apply force to the product to evaluate its resistance against prying.
➜ Drill Resistance Test: Testers attempt to drill into the product to assess its resistance against drilling.
➜ Saw Resistance Test: Testers attempt to saw through the product to evaluate its resistance against sawing.
➜ Cut Resistance Test: Testers attempt to cut the product using scissors or pliers to assess its resistance against cutting.
➜ Prying Resistance Test: Testers use pry bars and similar tools to attempt to pry open the product and evaluate its resistance against prying.
Indeed, it's important to note that to undergo the Diamond testing for Sold Secure certification, it is not necessary to first pass the Gold testing. Instead, the prerequisite is to successfully meet the requirements of BSI's TS007 Clause 4.2.
而需要特別注意的是，要進行鑽石牌的測試只需要先通過BSI的TS007 Clause 4.2，不用先通過SOLD SECURE的金牌測試喔!
